Since opening its doors in 2008, Polymer Techniques has prided itself on manufacturing high quality precision sealing products, combined with good ‘old fashioned’ customer service. As a small, family business, we prioritise operating with honesty and integrity, and keeping our customers as our main focus.
Poly-Tech was founded by Paul Short. On leaving school at 15 years old, Paul became an apprentice with a leading surgical instrument manufacturer in Sheffield. Sheffield is famous across the world for its precision manufacturing and the apprenticeship training is rigorous and thorough. Five years later, he qualified as a mechanical engineer. This apprenticeship stood Paul in good stead for a life in manufacturing and he owes much of his success to his early years as a young Sheffield engineer.
Paul’s qualifications allowed him to search for a more specialist role in manufacturing and the world of elastomer sealing quickly became his life passion. Paul joined the prestigious seal manufacturer James Walker & Co where he absorbed a wealth of technology knowledge. In 1983 he launched his own manufacturing business (NES Sheffield) producing Orings and sealing products and almost forty years later, as Poly-Tech, he is still going strong. In collaboration with Julia, who is integral to the production of Poly-Tech’s high-quality products, Poly-Tech is going from strength to strength
Liz Hughes joined the company in March 2021 in order to look after the office and sales departments. Liz graduated from The University of Sunderland in 2009 with a degree in English Language & Linguistics, before completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources Management and embarking on a career as an HR Manager.
In mid-2022, Poly-Tech increased its production opportunities when we moved to a brand-new factory. This new space offers us the opportunity to develop our product range, and even further improve our already excellent lead times. It also allows us to continue to deliver our excellent customer service.
